Hydro Excavation
TLC Services offers Hydro Excavation in addition to our regular excavation services. We own the equipment and staff the crew that can safely and efficiently expose underground utilities such as fiber optics, gas lines, power line and phone lines. Designed to power through all kinds of difficult terrain including frozen ground Hydro Excavation is a better alternative to traditional mechanical or hand digging.
Your trusted excavator in the Southwest Montana region
Hydo Excavation Equipment
We’ve completed a range of excavation projects around the state, trusted by business, homeowners alike, as well as Northwestern Energy for their ongoing excavation needs. Whether your job calls for traditional excavation services or hydro excavation, we have a reputation for being safe, efficient and owning all of the equipment necessary on every site.
Hydo Excavation is Lower-Impact
Hydraulic excavating machines are low impact and utilize pressurized water and a vacuum system to dig precisely and make visual identification of existing underground utilities like gas lines and fiber optics so they can be easily avoided. The resulting slurry is simultaneously vacuumed up while digging and deposited into a debris tank. Hydro excavation is a non-mechanical, non-destructive process that uses pressurized water and industrial strength vacuum to simultaneously excavate and evacuate soil. As hydro excavation safely breaks up soil, the soil and water slurry is conveyed by vacuum to a debris tank. This method of excavation eliminates any risk of underground utility damage and results in safe, fast, precise excavations that require less backfill, labor, restoration, and has less environmental impact than traditional excavation techniques.
Our Hydro Excavation work can be used for the following services.
Potholing/Daylighting
Potholing or daylighting is the process of excavating or exposing underground utilities. Since hydro excavation is a non-mechanical, non-destructive process, it enables underground utilities to be exposed without the risks inherit in traditional manual or mechanical excavation methods. Potholing is also a time and cost-saving digging method for the installation of signs, telephone poles, fences and the like.
Slot Trenching
Slot trenching is the process of digging narrow trenches for installing pipes, cables or other in-ground utilities. Traditional slot trenchers can cause serious and costly damage, whereas hydro excavation provides a non-destructive and efficient slot trenching method even on frozen surfaces. Hydro excavation makes it easy and safe to install sprinkler systems, locate underground utilities, and perform similar installations without the risk of damaging previously installed systems or lines.
Debris Removal
With hydro excavation’s precise, non-destructive characteristics, it can remove debris and clean out a variety of structures without damaging the surrounding area. Hydro excavation is also an ideal solution for catch basin cleaning, sludge removal and cleaning up spills.
Piling Hole Excavation
Installation holes are needed for poles, signs, posts, and serve as foundations to support the structure that will be installed. These holes can be excavated using hydro excavation without the risk of damage that exists with using manual digging methods.
Cold Weather and Underwater Digging
Since our hydro excavation trucks are equipped with truck-mounted hot water systems, cold weather does not deter them from working. TLC Hydro Excavation also has an Air Spade Excavation system when water might be an issue.
